A New Venture Takes Flight

Workers construct a chicken house to generate income for our School

Kicking Off Our Chicken House Project!

Exciting new developments are happening at the Friends for Roxanne Foundation! As you know, we're always looking for sustainable ways to generate income to support the vital work of the Foundation and Roxanne Junior School. We're thrilled to announce a brand-new initiative that will do just that: our chicken house project!

The local council, who so generously provided us with the land for our new administrative offices, is keen to see activity on the site. They're eager to include our progress in their monthly reports to the government, so we're moving quickly to get things underway! We're putting their enthusiasm to good use by launching a project that will not only demonstrate our commitment but also provide immediate financial support.

We've developed a robust plan to start a chicken rearing enterprise right on the land, just 15 meters across the tarred road from the school. This project offers a quick turnaround, ensuring a steady stream of income to fund our ongoing needs.

Our Plan for Success:

We plan to start with 200 chicks. Here’s a breakdown of the costs and projected income for one cycle:

  • 100 chicks: $100

  • 1 x Stress Pack: $2

  • 1 x 50kg Starter Feed: $36

  • 3 x 50kg Grower Feed: $102

  • 4 x 50kg Finisher Feed: $136

  • Total Cost (for 100 chicks): $340

When fully grown, each chicken sells for $7. This means:

  • Gross Income (100 chickens): $700

  • Deduct Expenses: $700 - $340 = $360

  • Profit (for 100 chickens): $360 in just 4 weeks!

This project offers a fantastic return, and the market for chickens is consistently strong. To kickstart with 200 chicks, we need $680, and SveSve even put his old motorbike up for sale to help raise the initial capital. We're hopeful it will sell soon!

This initiative is a testament to our dedication to creating self-sustaining programs that directly benefit the children and families we serve. It’s also a powerful way to show the local authorities how effectively we’re utilizing the resources they've provided.

We are truly humbled by the support we receive, and the progress we're making is bringing tangible fruits to our projects and changing lives. The local media is even taking notice and planning to feature our work!
