We have had heavy rain for the past 2 days, work was disturbed. The builders resumed work today after, allowing the newly constructed walls to dry properly. This was essential for maintaining their structural integrity. Upon returning, they faced a significant amount of work ahead, including:
Finishing the walls, ensuring they are sturdy and visually appealing.
Smoothing the floors for safety and comfort.
Installing the roof timber framework for support.
Securing iron sheets on the roof to prevent leaks.
Plastering the walls for insulation and aesthetics.
Installing ventilation pipes for proper airflow.
Painting the toilets for a hygienic finish.
Once these tasks are completed, the building will be ready for use, meeting the students needs.
In another important development, the rain has greatly benefited our young beans and the ripening corn. It's wonderful that we will soon be harvesting the first batch of beans from our garden. This harvest is particularly exciting as it marks not only a successful growing season but also a vital source of nutrition for our school community. It's reassuring to know that this yield will enhance our food supply, ensuring the children have enough to eat. While the quantity we have grown may not be large enough to sell on the market, it is certainly adequate to meet our lunch program needs. The beans will be a nutritious addition to our meals, helping to sustain the children and keep them healthy and energetic. This harvest signifies a step towards greater self-sufficiency and food security for our students, and we are eager to enjoy these fruits of our labor. We are still working on raising funds for the drilling of a borehole (fresh water well) to ensure crop production reaches its full potential. to learn more: Farm Operations - a video tour
